How We're Different

We Train for Real Life, Not Just Lessons

Our focus is on skills that show up where they matter most — on walks, during visits, at the vet, and in everyday routines. Training isn’t about performing on cue; it’s about living well together.

We Prioritize Understanding Before Instruction

Before asking your dog to do something new, we take time to understand why behavior is happening and what support will help it change. That clarity shapes every step forward.

Humane, Evidence-based Methods — Always

All training is force-free, fear-free, and grounded in modern behavioural science. Your dog’s wellbeing is never compromised for speed or compliance.

Support That Fits Your Life

Training plans are built around your goals, schedule, and capacity — not rigid formulas. Whether you need hands-on help, guided coaching, or a mix of both, support is designed to be realistic and sustainable.

Skills That Carry Forward

Rather than chasing quick fixes, we focus on teaching skills you’ll reuse again and again. What you learn with one dog supports future situations, new environments, and every stage of life together.

Testimonials

Regine and 'Lil'

I was looking for a trainer that didn't use shock collar training, and believed in positive reinforcement instead. I am so glad that I found Jo. She is wonderful with animals, and trained our Golden Retriever named Lil. To this day, Lil is so happy to see her. You will find that Jo has many credentials in training. She is timely, funny, and caring. We consider her as part of our family.

A Small Shift That Changed Everyday Life

Then

Evenings were shaped around barking. Visits felt tense. Trips took extra planning. Kaitlin loved Molly deeply — one she’d raised since she was a teenager, and a newly adopted adolescent settling into their home. She wasn’t new to training and had built plenty of good habits over the years, but some patterns felt stuck, and she wasn’t sure where to start untangling them.

Now

There’s more structure in the day and more confidence behind decisions. Kaitlin understands what Molly needs, how to respond when things get noisy or overwhelming, and how to keep building skills over time. Life feels more predictable, more flexible, and easier to share with others again.

Special Focus Programs

Do you have a unique focus, singular concern, or pressing matter? From confidence and enrichment to calm care routines, these programs focus on specific goals.

Sniff, Stroll & Savor

Fun, confidence-building outings, exciting enrichment activities, and puzzle play, that leave your dog’s brain and body happily tired. For puppies, this program offers structured, positive socialization and early experiences that help them learn about the world safely and appropriately during critical development stages.

For adult dogs, this offers a healthy outlet for energy and natural instincts through enrichment and exploration. Dogs come home satisfied and relaxed, having had the chance to move, sniff, problem-solve, and engage their brains.

Vet & Groomer Prep

Once a week starting in the comfort of your home then getting real life practice in a grooming or vet setting if appropriate and available.

This program supports both dogs who struggle with vet visits, grooming, or handling, and young dogs who are being proactively prepared for lifelong care experiences.

Cooperative care focuses on teaching dogs to willingly participate in their own care, using choice-based, fear-free training. We build understanding, predictability, and trust so care routines can happen without force or distress.

A simple training tip to try today

Mental enrichment counts as training.

A short sniff walk, food puzzle, or problem-solving game can support focus, reduce excess energy, and make formal training sessions more effective later.
